Meet Our New Senior Corporate Event Manager: Laura Cialdella

Like everything else at Seven-Degrees, from the chef to the designer, we carefully select each role and only bring on the ‘best of the best’. Our newest addition, Laura Cialdella, is now the Senior Corporate Event Manager and undoubtedly exceeds our expectations. Previously, Laura was a client and after many years of being satisfied with our high level of service and standards, she joined our team. She works closely with our clients and ensures they are delighted with their results. Her friendly mid-western background and unshakable passion for travel make her a lively and colorful addition to the team.

How did you get connected with Seven-Degrees?
I was a client and have had great experiences here at Seven-Degrees.  It’s my most favorite venue in Orange County! I wanted to further expand my knowledge of the industry and work for a ‘luxury brand’ venue. Dora and I have known each other since the venue opened. All the stars were aligned as this opportunity grew and came to fruition.

Tell us a little bit about the type of work you do here.
I’m so excited about Seven-Degrees! While there is a large emphasis on art, the venue is perfect for our corporate clients, which is my focus. With my extensive background, I can really help the clients tie in the art of design and the art of food and beverage. My goal is to create an experience that one couldn’t necessarily do on their own. The possibilities are endless here.

What’s one thing you love about working here so far?
I’ve never worked at an actual venue. I’m really enjoying learning the inner workings of how a very successful venue runs. I’ve learned so much about the culinary team and what it takes to operationally run a facility. There are so many different layers in this business. Now I’m seeing the different side of the coin and it’s exciting for me to experience something new. I’m passionate about learning more about the culinary aspect and I’m excited to share my experiences with the team.

Tell us a bit about what you do for fun.
I enjoy travel, entertaining, cooking and have a real passion for wine. In addition, I love spending time with my 18-year-old daughter and sharing life experiences with her. She inspires me every day!  This summer we traveled Europe with family and friends. I also enjoy hiking.  This past weekend my girlfriend and I found a beautiful trail overlooking the ocean, we are blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the world!

What are your passions as far as your career is concerned?
I’m excited to be working at such an innovative, forward-thinking venue that truly is a blank canvas in which we can create and deliver just about any vision for our clients.  My passion is design and food and beverage. I love working with the chef to create custom menus and working with the beverage manager to find unique and special wines for our clients. I really enjoy the creative aspect of event planning.

How long have you been in the industry?
I have close to 30 years of meeting and event planning experience.  I’ve worked as a corporate planner, spent time working at a hotel, and most recently worked over 23 years for a Destination Management Company as an Event Planner.  It’s so interesting how the industry has evolved over the years.  When I started in the business, not many people were professional event planners, and now many of the colleges offer degrees in this field.  When I moved to California from St. Louis it seemed not many knew where Orange County was, now we are truly a destination.

Anything else people should know about you?
When my daughter and I travel, we really try to immerse ourselves in that culture, which, of course, involves lots of eating.  The first day we arrive into a new city, whether here in the US or abroad, we do a culinary walking tour so we can scope out the restaurants and shops in the area.  It’s fun to learn the history, walk in the fresh air and sample the local cuisine.

My daughter is a senior now, so I’m helping her navigate through this crazy process of college applications and figuring out the next phase in her life.  She’s been very supportive of me as I transition into this next chapter of my own life, we make a great team.

Laura spends her free time entertaining in her own home, drinking the wines she recommends to clients, and being out and about in our own Laguna Beach. We are thrilled to have her as our new Senior Corporate Event Manager because it is clear she does her job eight days a week out of pure passion.
