Mike & Brittny

Our Story: Mike + Brittny

“Our anniversary is just a momentary celebration, but our marriage is a timeless one.”

— Unknown

A tradition that we are proud to offer to all of our couples that walk down the Seven-Degrees aisle is a celebratory anniversary dinner. What a special way to reflect on the year that has passed and bring the newlyweds back to the same setting that launched the start of their next chapter.

Meet Mike and Brittny! Married on May 26th, 2018 at Seven-Degrees Laguna Beach. As their year anniversary rolled around, we sat down with the newlyweds to reflect on the past year spent together.

How did you meet?

Mike and I met through mutual work friends. Our first encounter was at the Santa Anita horse races back in 2012. We were able to get away from the crowd and finally have the opportunity to chat. I know this sounds cheesy but sneaking around made everything so exciting, and I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him! Both being skeptical about dating in the workplace, we hid our feelings for a few months, but it soon became obvious. We were inseparable.

How did Mike propose?

Mike took me to Catalina Island, it was raining but he still managed to make it a fun day for me. We rented a golf cart, drove around the island sightseeing, and giggled like children. The rain died down and Mike popped the question as the sun started to come out. It was perfect!

What is your favorite thing about your husband?

My favorite thing about Mike is his heart. He is unbelievably patient and kind — always putting my feelings first.

What is your favorite thing about your wife?

My favorite part about Britt is her beautiful face. I think that I’m so lucky to have such a beautiful soulmate to look at every day. There are still so many times that I get nervous looking at her because of her sheer beauty.

What did you do for your honeymoon?

For our honeymoon we spent a week lounging around in St. Lucia and a week in New York running around town living the high life.

Why did you choose to get married at Seven-Degrees?

We chose Seven-Degrees because, well, it’s our favorite city in all of California and the modern look of your venue won our hearts. Being able to have our ceremony on the rooftop and reception in one location was beautiful and easy for our guests.

What was your favorite memory from your special day?

Our favorite memory from our wedding was walking into the beautifully lit reception room filled with our family and friends cheering us on!

What can you say about the food? The drinks? The staff? Your experience?

The food was absolutely great! We had a lot of praise from our guests about how great all of the food was. (But we wish we had more time to eat!) The signature drink was tasty and on point with our theme. The staff was very helpful and friendly — no complaints here!

What do people still talk about/remember from your wedding?

Our guests still talk about how beautiful the venue was, how great the food was, and the rooftop deck ceremony scenery.

Why did you choose your wedding date – any significance?

We chose our wedding date to be on Saturday, May 26, 2018 because we wanted a long holiday weekend so we could have family stay in town longer. The venue was a perfect location for our guests to stay at the Surf and Sand Hotel and convenient for all the wedding festivities throughout the entire weekend.

What piece of advice do you have for couples planning their weddings?

Our advice to couples is to give yourself enough time to plan. Trust in your coordinator’s recommendations and experience in planning.

What piece of marriage advice do you have for couples?

Remember to keep dating even after marriage! Don’t sweat the small stuff when it comes to wedding planning.

What has changed in your first year of marriage?

For starters, we’re pregnant! Soon there will be more than just the two of us and we are beyond excited! Marriage has brought us even closer together and made us more considerate of each other.

What are your plans and goals for the next 5 years of marriage?

I would say our plans and goals would be to save up and purchase our first home together.

Will you do a vow renewal?

We haven’t really thought about it but we would love to do a vowel renewal for our 10 year anniversary!

Is there anything else you’d love to say?

Thank you for making our experience so memorable and unique!

Cheers, Mike + Brittny! We look forward to the years to come and are thrilled to have hosted you and your loved ones at our one-of-a-kind venue!
