Life & Family
Tell us the story of how you two met: Who introduced you? What was your first date?
Adam and I met over the World Wide Web back in 2011. We pretty much Skyped for 6 months straight before I took a leap of faith and flew to the UK to meet him in person. All of my friends said I was crazy to travel halfway around the world for a guy… however, it ended up being the trip of a lifetime, especially since I have never visited London before. Our first date pretty much consisted of 10 non-stop days of everything and anything touristy in England and Wales. Plus, it was full of good British food.
How did he propose?
Back in May 2016, we flew back to England to go visit his parents. On a random Tuesday there, he took me to lunch at Gordon Ramsay’s and we decided to go visit Kensington Gardens after lunch. He asked to sit for a bit on a bench in the park and it was there that he got down on one knee to propose.
What’s your favorite thing about HIM? What’s your favorite thing about HER?
My favorite thing about him is his loyalty to me – I’ve had so many failed relationships due to a lack of trust but even halfway around the world, I just knew I could trust him and devote my efforts to this relationship.
His favorite thing about me is centered around the same concept – my devotion to him!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We have not gotten around to going on a honeymoon yet but we would like it to be New Zealand. We went on a “family moon” recently to visit my mom’s side of the family in Taiwan. It was great to have Adam experience my Taiwanese culture and Heritage.
Why did you choose [seven-degrees]? What stood out to you?
My big sister recommended Seven-Degrees to us. What stood out the most was that I could get every-thing I wanted all in one venue and that was very convenient especially when it came to the custom lighting.
What is your favorite memory from your wedding?
Our favorite memory was sitting at the sweetheart table and looking out at all of our friends and family members in that room that evening. It really was everyone that meant a lot to us at some point in our lives. The wonderful wedding speeches made it even more special.
What can you say about the food? The drinks? The staff? Your experience?
The food and drinks were amazing! We had a lot of the wedding guests come up to us to tell us that it was some of the best wedding food they’ve had. We chose the short ribs and sea bass for our entrees and they were amazing. We also loved that bar manager came up with creative his and her drinks for us based on the names we chose: The Crown Jewels and The Full Monty. Overall, our experience at Seven-Degrees was nothing short of spectacular.
What do people still talk about/remember from your wedding?
The guests still talk about the food and amazing flower decor provided by your recommended vendor, Florals by Jenny. I love looking at all of my wedding photos to remind me of how beautiful the decor and ven-ue was that night.
Why did you choose your wedding date – any significance?
The date 11-12-17 was easy to remember and it was a good time in the year where we felt the most guests could attend.
What piece of advice do you have for couples planning their weddings?
Research is vital. I think it’s important to reach out for wedding quotes and visit venues in person. That way you can narrow down pros and cons and have those points help you weigh in on what you really want and value for your own wedding.
What piece of advice do you have for couples on marriage?
Just because a couple is now married does not mean that it will be smooth sailing from there. I believe you should live each day as if it were your last and never stop trying in a relationship and most importantly, never stop learning.
What has changed in your years of marriage?
After having been married almost a year now, I can honestly say that we still feel like newlyweds as the year definitely has passed by so fast. I am sure the second year will be a whole new story!
Have you had any kids or grown your fur baby family since the wedding?
We have not had any babies since getting married last year. However, we are eager to start~
What are your plans and goals in the next 5 year of marriage?
Our biggest goal is perhaps a baby and a house! Housing prices in SoCal are needless to say, ex-pensive!!!
Will you do a vow renewal?
We have not thought about this honestly, but I wouldn’t rule this out for the future.
Is there anything else you’d love to say?
Thank you for inviting us back for this lovely anniversary dinner. We think that it is a great gesture and the best decision we made for our wedding was choosing Seven-Degrees. <3
